File Type Entering Commercial Insurance in the EI-Hub
An In The Loop article titled “Entering Commercial Insurance in the EI-Hub” released on 03/20/2025 provides guidance on entering commercial insurance. The article notes that commercial insurance companies often have multiple billing addresses for claims. However, with Covered Lives legislation, only the insurance company's name is required in the EI-Hub. Follow the link for more information.

File Type Impact of Child’s Demographic Information on Claim Processing
During claiming, data from the Case Management module transfers to the Billing module to verify claim accuracy. This transfer requires key data, including the child’s address. If the address is missing, claims though accepted will not appear in the Invoice Batch Statuses Report until the information is available. This article explains how to use the Child Lookup feature to confirm if the child is in the Billing module.

File Type Migrated Claims
Users have requested information on how to track claims from the transition period of NYEIS to the EI-Hub. Claims with an ‘Approved’ status with a service date within six years of October 4, 2024 (when NYEIS was taken offline) were migrated to the EI-Hub. However, it is important to note that claims in open, pending, and rejected statuses were not migrated to the EI-Hub. Follow the link for more information.

File Type Medicaid Billing Update: CO16/N55 Denials Impacting Special Instruction Claims
This notice informs billing providers of recent Medicaid billing changes directed at Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, which have affected the billing of Early Intervention (EI) Special Instruction (SI) claims. These changes took effect on March 3, 2025, impacting claims submitted on or after this date. Following this billing change, EI SI claims containing procedure or diagnosis codes identified in the ABA-related billing updates are denied with code CO16/N55. Impacted claims will appear in the Billing Provider’s workable queue in the Billing module, but no action can be taken at this time. The Bureau of Early Intervention (BEI) is working with Medicaid, and further instructions will be provided.

File Type EI-Hub Update: Adjustments to Billing Rejection Edits Effective 3/4/2025
To enhance clarity and efficiency in billing rejections, adjustments have been made to ensure providers receive only the most relevant rejection reasons. These updates will help providers identify the true cause of a rejection and focus on actionable steps for resolution. The updates implemented on 3/4/2025 are related to F7/F51 and F22/F24 billing rejections. Follow the link for more details.

File Type User reported issue on the Scripts, Orders, Recommendations, and Referrals panel
BEI and PCG is aware of an issue in the Scripts, Orders, Recommendations, and Referrals panel. Multiple authorization numbers and service types are displayed for a single entry. This is a cosmetic issue only and does not impact billing. Users can verify the correct provider, authorization, and service type by selecting 'Edit' on an entry or viewing the Child Info and Authorization report. Contacting the Call Center is unnecessary.
